Are we Passengers without a Pilot?

Are you a big fan of Three Days Grace? You came to the right article. In this article, we will analyze Three Days Grace's new song, "Mayday."

Three Days Grace released a song entitled "Mayday." This song was released on August 22nd, 2025 in the Three Days Grace Album "Alienation." When I began to listen to this band, I thought they were Christian but then I discovered that they are more on the secular side than the Christian side. In this article, we will be analyzing the song "Mayday" from a Christian perspective

.

The song begins with the lyrics "We'll never say, we'll never say mayday." When our life is crazy, sometimes we feel like we can never say mayday. Mayday is for the weakhearted. However, we can bring our mayday circumstances to the God of the Universe. 1 Peter 5:7 states, "Cast all your cares upon him because he cares for you." Some days, I even have Mayday circumstances but I really on God to care me through.

The next set of lyrics to the song states: "Welcome to the end, just take a number (Just get used to the influence you're under)." This song lyric is more morbid. It states, "Welcome to the end. Just take a number." To me, this song lyric is describing that life is just a number and we can just fade away with the influence that we are under. "The influence" could possibly mean drugs, fame, wealth, fortune, and Leaders.

Then the song continues on to state "Its the same old story of wanting it all but it's never enough the more you know, you know, you know nothing." This song reminds me of Ecclesiastes. Even our knowledge is not enough to find meaning in life. This song is exploring the meaning of life and how our life plays a role in society as a whole.

Then it gets really strange: "We walk like dead people who haven't died yet. We ride like passengers without a pilot. We be losing our minds, but we all try to hide it. It is hard to keep fighting when you're barely surviving." This song lyric is a very accurate portrayal of someone who does not know Jesus Christ. When we do not know Christ, we do walk like dead people who haven't died yet. For those who do not know Christ, they ride like passengers without a pilot. They are losing their mind, but they try to hide it. They are truly trying to fight to stay afloat when they have a void inside their heart. Romans 3:23 states 'For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". Romans 6:23a states "For the wages of sin is death."

Then they continue on to say, "We'll never say, we'll never say mayday." Sometimes. we are too prideful and arrogant to admit that we do need help from the God of the Universe and His son, Jesus Christ. We need to cry mayday to the God of the Universe who can rescue us from our Mayday circumstances.

Then the artist went on to say: "Then follow the leader right off the cliffs edge. All your dreams are down below, buried under broken bones." This is an interesting lyric. Our dreams are like broken bones never to be recovered again. However, God can restore our dreams and make our dreams come true if they align with God's will.

The last set of distinct lyrics is the following. "Calm down, We'll be okay, just some turbulence, we're on our way, We're going down, but not today, we'll never say mayday."

This is so true when we face trials of this life, it is just turbulence on the flight of life. When we believe in Jesus Christ, our present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in Heaven. So truly if we are follower of Jesus Christ, we will truly never say Mayday because with God all things are possible. Let's do everything to the Glory of God who can conquer our Mayday circumstances. So, let's not live the world that Three Days Grace portrays in the song "Mayday" from their Album "Alienation."

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this interesting article that God placed on my heart to write to reach those who do not know Jesus Christ yet. Jesus is our savior. He died on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He was buried and rose again on the third day, conquering sin and death. He was the perfect sacrifice. All we have to do is admit that we are sinners and acknowledge that is by the blood of the Lamb of God that we are healed (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 10:9-14). If you have not accepted Jesus Christ, Today is the day to accept Jesus Christ to rescue you from your Mayday circumstances. Without his blood, we will not have been forgiven. (Hebrews 9:22b paraphrased).
