The Life of Aiden McFearless: The Fictional Conflict Narrative

After escaping from the prison, after ten years of being in prison for his faith,  Aiden McFearless is the pastor of the Grace Alliance Community Church. Grace Alliance Community Church is located in Blue Springs, Oceania.  Aiden McFearless just recently took a conflict resolution class that details how to restore someone. Oceania is a beautiful country that has a vast array of wildlife and beautiful mountain range. It almost looks like Colorado. Aiden McFearless has to confront one of his pastor friends because He is not abiding by the doctrinal statement of EFCO (Evangelical Free Contract of Oceania). In this doctrinal statement, it states that the churches affiliated in the EFCO cannot allow homosexuals as a member. They can welcome them, but cannot allow them to teach or be part of the church because they are living in the sin. However, Aiden’s pastor friend is not abiding by the doctrinal Statement of the EFCO (closely related to the EFCA). So how does Aiden McFearless confront his pastor friend?

Aiden McFearless decided to read Matthew 18 that talks about how to restore someone when they are living in sin. Not abiding by the Word of God is a sin and the fact that his pastor friend is not abiding by God’s Word deeply saddens him. Aiden McFearless has set a routine of meeting with his pastor friend, Dr. Rowdy Extravaganza (AKA Dr. E). at the Blue Springs Recreation Center (BSRC). So, one day, He decided to talk to him because he wanted to talk to him about how condoning homosexuality is a sin because it is not abiding by the Word of God.

“Hey, Dr. E., I was wondering If you would want to meet for coffee at the Oceania Parkgrounds Coffeehouse on 1417 Forestry Drive, Blue Springs, Oceania. Forestry Drive is about 5 minutes from the BSRC?” Aiden McFearless happily asked.

Dr. E gruffly responded in a despondent tone, “I am just too busy.”

“Are you sure. Dr. E? I would love to talk to you.” Aiden McFearless in angelic voice asked again.

Being angry at Aiden McFearless and not liking to meet with ‘religious’ people, he instantly responded in an irritated tone, “No, I am sorry. I am simply just too busy.”

            This was Aiden’s first initiative of meeting with Dr. E. He was trying to practice the Matthew 18 principle that he learned at the Conflict Resolution. Now, he is confused on the next step. So, he consulted the great counselor of all, the Word of God. So, he opened his Bible and turned to Matthew 18. He started reading from verse 15 to Verse 20 to get the full context.

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.” (Matthew 18:15-18).

He stopped reading. Aiden was thinking to himself, So, I should treat my pastor friend as a pagan or a tax collector. Interesting. I really do not want to do to this to my friend. He had already been approached by the Elders, Deacons, and Trustees. So, I need to excommunicate him. That would be devastating to my pastor friend and to me. With this thought, he was pondering that he would be graduating with a Master of Biblical Counseling at Grace Wonders University (GWU). He decided to abide by the Word of God and confront him one more time, thinking that Dr. E would change his mind and would listen to Aiden McFearless. Before he met Dr. E, He fasted and prayed. Praying that God would change Dr. E's mind and allow him to no longer condone homosexuality. They met at BSRC, and He asked him again to meet with him.

“Hey, Dr. E, I was wondering if you changed your mind and would like to meet with me. You are in a difficult circumstance because of the Supreme Court ruling that homosexuality has been legalized. However, I would love to meet with you and tell you what the Bible has to say about homosexuality and why it is wrong.”

In a cheerful mood, Dr. E. responded, “You are right. I am in a difficult position with this new law and how the public looks venomous at people who are homophobic. I just wanted people to like me and want to draw people in. I would love to meet with you.” 

“Awesome. Let’s meet at 9:30 AM tomorrow to discuss this important topic.”

With this, Dr. E. changed his mind and was gently restored using the Matthew 18 steps. He changed his way because Aiden McFearless read Matthew 18 and tried to restore him gently according to Matthew 18. They are now better friends and meet on a regular basis at the Parkgrounds Coffeehouse in Blue Springs, Oceania. Dr. E. is very grateful to have a friend like Aiden McFearless.
