Introduction to Child Evangelism Fellowship: What is CYIA?

Many people have been wondering and asking, "What is CYIA? What is the purpose of CYIA? What age group can attend CYIA? How long does it take to go through discipleship training?" These are excellent questions. Let's address each one of these questions in this series of an Introduction to Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Child Evangelism Fellowship was founded in 1937. Then they decided to create a discipleship program to disciple youth and effectively teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children. CYIA stands for Christian Youth In Action. They are not only living by faith alone but also demonstrating their faith by teaching children how to truly know they are saved.

CYIA is geared towards high school and college-age students. According to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Kansas, "Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) is a program designed to train you and a team of other young people in effective and engaging ways to teach children about God." (https://www.cefofkansas.com/cyia.html).

One of my major roles as the future ministry coordinator of CEF of Kansas is to help organize and operate the CYIA training program. It is designed to disciple young adults to teach the children on how they can place their 100% trust in Jesus Christ.

There are several success stories related to this. During the course of a five-day club, the children have numerous opportunities to put their 100% trust in Jesus Christ as the Lord of their life by believing in their heart that Jesus died for their sins and rose on the third day, conquering sin and death (Romans 10:9, Romans 5:8, Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 9:22b). Then, they confess their sins to God (1 John 1:9). Then, they will never be snatched out of the Father's hands because nothing will separate us from the love of Jesus Christ (John 10:28-30; Romans 8:38-39). All you have to confess is that Jesus is the Lord over your life and believe in your heart that Jesus rose from the dead to save you from your sins. Then you will be saved. All who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

However, there is a sad reality to this. Fewer than 1/3 of America's children attend Sunday School. We need to get the message of salvation into public schools. We cannot do it without you. We need to mobilize the youth in the United States and in Kansas to help spread the gospel. You never know when Jesus will return. The time is now.
